Reliance Electric
Reliance Electric was founded in 1904 in Cleveland, Ohio. Reliance Electric Company is a manufacturer of large mechanical couplers and electrical motors and drives used in heavy industries from steel and paper mills to coal mines. The company diversified into electronic equipment for the telecommunications industry in the 1970s. The company has more than 250 operating facilities in nine countries as well as a global marketing and distribution network. Rockwell International Corp. acquired Reliance Electric in 1994. In 2006 Rockwell reached an agreement to sell its Reliance Electric Co business to Baldor Electric which is part of ABB.
